Crazy Chess puts a backward twist on traditional chess! Instead of trying to protect your pieces, the goal is to be the first player to have all of your pieces captured. Players can choose to play as the black pieces, white pieces, a random color, or in 2-player mode. Black moves first, and if a player can capture an opponent’s piece, they must make a capture. As students decide where to move and which pieces to capture, they practice spatial reasoning, patterns, logical thinking, sequencing, and planning ahead. These skills connect to K–5 mathematics by encouraging students to analyze position, direction, possible moves, and how one decision can affect what happens next.
